BACKGROUND

This World Children’s Day, let’s unite in advancing global action against child labour! Let us come together to ensure that the voices from the grassroots reach the halls where decisions are made.

As the world prepares for the 6th Global Conference on the Elimination of Child Labour in Morocco (2026), it is crucial that the voices of those most affected, children, youth, and survivors of child labour, are meaningfully included in shaping the agenda and outcomes.

The Durban Call to Action (2022) highlighted the importance of placing children and communities at the centre of strategies to eliminate child labour. However, participation often remains tokenistic, with youth voices not adequately represented in decision-making spaces. This consultation aims to address that gap by directly engaging children, youth, and survivor advocates to share their perspectives, priorities, and recommendations ahead of the 2026 Global Conference. Through this process, we also aim to identify the most representative survivors/leaders to authentically convey these collective voices and contribute to the conference in person.

The webinar seeks to inform and equip children, youth, and survivors with knowledge about the 2026 Global Conference and why it matters to their lives and advocacy. It will draw on their lived experiences to identify the key issues and recommendations that should shape the conference agenda. The process will also strengthen youth participation mechanisms by co-creating pathways for meaningful engagement before, during, and after the conference. Expected results include a consolidated summary note of priorities and messages to feed into the conference preparatory process and key discussions, a youth and survivor engagement roadmap towards Morocco 2026, and stronger networks and alliances for sustained advocacy to end child labour.

WHO SHOULD PARTICIPATE?

  • Children and youth advocates engaged with civil society.
  • Survivors of child labour and young people with lived experience.
  • Youth leaders from community groups
  • Trade unions, Teachers Unions and CSOs working on child rights and labour rights directly or indirectly.

We encourage inclusive and diverse participation and invite contributions from survivors and youth from all underrepresented communities to ensure that a holistic perspective is reflected in the discussion.
