The National Child Protection Authority of Sri Lanka (NCPA) recently reported of a dramatic rise in child cruelty cases reported to the 1929 child helpline since the start of Sri Lanka’s COVID-19 curfew.
To address the issue of violence against children, Global March member, CCH Sri Lanka responded to the needs of the vulnerable communities in Jaffna (on the request made by Government of Sri Lanka). It also provided for essential items at the government’s safe house for women and children afflicted by violence. Along with this, CCSH Sri Lanka supported 30 children from child care institutions by rejoining them with their families and by providing them with relief food items.
