Global March is pleased to announce that Mr. Timothy (Tim) Ryan, the Asia Regional Program Director for the American Center for International Labor Solidarity (“Solidarity Center”) has been unanimously elected to replace Ms Helen Toth of the Child Labor Coalition (CLC) in the Governing Board of Global March Against Child Labour. Tim spent eight years in Asia as the Solidarity Center’s Country Program Director for Sri Lanka (1993-97) and Indonesia (1997-2001). In his capacity as shop steward for the Solidarity Center/Asia between 1998 and 2001, Tim is a founding member of the Center’s Field Staff Association, of the Newspaper Guild/Communications Workers of America Local 32035, AFL-CIO. At present he is a steering committee member of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the National Writers’ Union Local 1981. Holding a Masters Degree in South Asian Studies from the Henry Jackson School of International Studies, University of Washington, Seattle, Tim also has Bachelor’s Degrees in Communications and English.

He has been an ardent advocate against child labour for decades in various capacities besides being a prolific writer, journalist, unionist and academician on different aspects of social justice.
