Bangladeshi CSOs call upon local administration to stop violence against children

Global March member, Bangladesh Shishu Adhikar Forum (BSAF) under the project “Strengthening the movement in Asia to protect girls and boys from child labour, trafficking while promoting decent work and education” organised 7 advocacy dialogue sessions in 7  constituencies (Rajshahi, Meherpur, Natore, Patuakhali, Jessore, Jhenaidah and Chittagong) with the local administration, including law enforcement agencies in Bangladesh from October – December 2019.  In the meetings the CSOs briefly discussed the worsening situation of children in cases of child marriage, child trafficking, child labour and abuse and exploitation happening in their own constituency. As the local government plays a vital role in implementing the laws at the ground level, the CSOs urged the local administration and law enforcement agencies to create a mass movement against such forms of violence against children and initiate campaign programs along with providing speedy legal assistance to the child victims.

After this meeting, with the support of LOFS (NGO) and local administration 7  children from Harian Union of Paba Upazila, 6 children from Dhutabon Moholla of Paba Upazila  and 2 children from Rajshahi City Corporation were withdrawn from child labour and enrolled into primary school.
